Year in Review - 2024

Last November I posted a round up of my art studio activity after a year of recommitting to my art practice. This November marks the second year being back in the studio after a hiatus working in the corporate sector. I’m happy to report, it's been another good year!

The year started off with a wonderful show at Art Reach St. Croix showcasing 15 pieces of new work alongside 3 other Minnesota based artists in the show “Shape, Space and Structure”. This year I also participated in 3 fantastic group shows, and had 4 pieces on display. (Fun fact: all 4 pieces that were on display in those group shows have sold! Thank you!) My work was selected for a group show opening this week and a for two person exhibition opening next August at the Robbin Gallery. I was able to travel and make art among other artists twice this year.

First, I traveled south to Chattanooga, TN where I attended the wonderful “Painting the Interior” workshop with Peter Van Dyck at the Townsend Atelier. Second, I travelled north to Ely, MN to enjoy a week long residency at the wonderful Tofte Lake Center where I created two paintings that have opened up a huge amount of inspiration for me in the studio. In the studio, I’ve created a lot of drawings, a lot of test prints, and a lot of painting studies this year. I have finished 4 oil paintings and 1 print edition. I have 2 more paintings and 1 print edition underway that will reach the finish line before the year is out. Lastly, I updated my website and sent out 6 newsletters to my subscribers (the 7th newsletter of the year is going out tomorrow).

I’m really happy what I’ve been able to accomplish this year. Thank you all for supporting my work and hitching a ride with me on this journey. Onward to year three!
